Fully Sick Adventures: Sea World Whale Watching Cruises

By Micaela Aboody

TLDR: It’s Elerrina’s birthday week, so for this weeks Fully Sick Adventures Jodie decided to take Elerrina out to the seas for some whale watching.

Good Taste Brekky’s Fully Sick Adventures segment sees hosts Elerrina and Jodie trying a family-friendly activity on the Gold Coast every week.

This week, Elerrina and Jodie had the opportunity to take to the high seas and hang out with one of the world’s largest marine mammals with Sea World Cruises.

“I’ve never done it before and did not realise how emotional it can get when you’re that close to such beautiful, beautiful creatures” Elerrina said.

Sea World Whale Watching Cruises allows you to enjoy a breathtaking vantage point of these gentle giants while marveling at their acrobatic aerial skills.

“We had them the whole time and not just the same whale, heaps of different whales; pods, babies everything,” Jodie squealed.

Whilst on the boat Elerrina and Jodie even got the chance to hang out in the Captains Lounge with Captain Kim and learnt a few new facts about whales.

“The whole time they are away from Antarctica, there’s no food. They’re doing the road trip with no taco in their tummy. They are living on fat stores and some of the whales will lose up to 30% of their body fat,” Captain Kim explained.

They learnt how to call the whales over by simply waving their hands, until eventually a baby whale came to say hello. Even naming some of the whales; Frank the Tank and Urcal.

“[The whales] were so close and so big and so beautiful,” Elerrina explained.
