Interview with Sophie Monk

By: Benjamin Ruge

TLDR: Good Taste Brekky hosts Elerrina and Jodie had the honour interviewing singer, actor, model, and media personality Sophie Monk.

This week Good Taste Brekky hosts Elerrina and Jodie had the honour of interviewing singer, actor, model, and media personality Sophie Monk. She first graced our screens in 2000 on the first season of Popstars.

Since then, she’s been in TV shows such as the Master Singer, Celebrity Apprentice, a judge on Australia’s Got Talent and Love Island, and is now hosting the revamped Beauty & the Geek.

Sophie Monk talks about how excited she is to be hosting the newly revamped Beauty & the Geek.

“The original one was awesome, but this new one is so much deeper,” Sophie said. “It’s beautiful and wholesome, and it’s just something we need in the world right now.”

In previous seasons, the Beauty & the Geek would give the girls spelling bees, and get the guys to do manicures, but Elerrina asks the question of what makes this time around different.

“This time around, we’re not trying to make people look silly. We want the challenges to bring out the best in everyone,” Sophie said. “We’ve thrown them in the deep end, the challenges will get harder and harder, but they put their heart into it.”

Jodie asks about the role of the host and what it’s like getting to pair the people up together.

“It’s very exciting being able to pair people up, but usually I blame management if it goes wrong, but I can’t do that this time!” Sophie laughs.

Elerrina says, “you have a beautiful career, we’re always so proud to see you doing so much and you’ve been my favourite to watch. Is there any advice you can give to people chasing their dream?”

“I started when I was 17 or 18 and reading comments would break my heart, so you have got to be tough,” Sophie said. “But you just have to chase your dreams.”
