On Thursday 17th June, St Vincent De Paul will be having their 6th annual CEO Sleepout where Gold Coast CEO’s and business leaders will be sleeping in sleeping bags and boxes at the Cbus Stadium.
Gold Coast St Vinnies Executive Officer, Kris Martin, explains the event is raising money and awareness for homelessness.
“We needed to do something and there was no better way to make an impact. What we say is it’s one tough night a year when there are plenty of others doing it tough most nights,” he said.
Throughout the night they talk about statistics of homelessness (up to 1800 people sleep rough each night on the Gold Coast) and have a companion talk about how they have been helped.
“Our stats tell us that it’s projected to go up over the next few years, with a housing crisis and shortage of rentals we are doing our part in the community,” Kris said.
