In the same year they brought their hit biopic Unsung Hero to cinemas, For King & Country have announced their annual Christmas production A Drummer Boy Christmas will be screened in Australian theatres for the first time this December.

The band shared the news while also telling fans they’re taking a break from touring in 2025 so their “spirit and soul” can catch up from a season singer Joel Smallbone has “profound gratitude” for.
“2025 feels like the first time we can in good conscience, over the last few years, step away,” Joel told Hope 103.2.
During the pandemic era, “political tension, racial division, and social isolation” meant it was a time to lean in, but now For King & Country have to pause for the sake of the future.
“This is a front row seat to the For King & Country Drummer Boy Christmas Show that you’ve never had.”
“Knowing that there’s an incredible amount still going on in the world,” Joel said.
“But also knowing that if we don’t take time to love God and love those around us and love ourselves – and write and produce music and films – I’m not sure we’ll be any good for folks going forward.”
Their annual A Drummer Boy Christmas show is one fans have loved since its debut, and finally international fans get to enjoy it as well.
“We love the Christmas season,” Joel said.
“We love doing these tours as well, but other than Canada, we’ve never taken these shows across the ocean [and] the Christmas season is so short, we can only do 10-15 shows at best.
“So, we took the same film crew from Unsung Hero [to a show in Texas] put them in the arena, handed them cameras and said, ‘let’s capture cinematically this event’ so we can not only be 30 minutes from every American, but we can reach over to the UK, to New Zealand and to Australia.”

“I’m really proud to say this is a front row seat to the For King & Country Drummer Boy Christmas Show that you’ve never had.”
Australian audiences who saw their Homecoming Tour know For King & Country don’t hold back in a live environment and with Christmas added in to the mix the atmosphere is even more electric.
“The beautiful reality about [Christmas music],” Joel said.
“Is, you’re all of a sudden singing these songs that aren’t just decades old – many of them are hundreds of years old – and have found the hearts of generations.
“We get to take some of the most nostalgic songs ever written and put our own For King & Country spin on it, then marry and pepper in some of our own Christmas songs and year-round originals.
“It makes up a night that’s unlike anything we ever do.”
