She chatted with Steve D about the Australian Christian Lobby’s mission to integrate Christian values into public policy.
“Our mission is to see Christian values and principles influencing the way that we’re governed, the way that we do business, and that affects also how we relate to each other as a community,” Michelle said.
“We’re seeing a real attack when it comes to anti-discrimination laws around the country… a lot of our work is focused on protecting Christian institutions, Christian schools, and the church.”
With battles raging in the public arena, Michelle believes fighting for Christian values has a positive impact on the whole country.
“Our nation so desperately needs [Christian values] right now,” Michelle said.
“Our nation so desperately needs [Christian values] right now,” she said. “We have state directors also in every state and territory also… their job is to lobby into their parliaments and bring that Christian influence through volunteers, media engagement and also that personal relationship with the politicians themselves.”
Michelle’s career began when she served as the state director for ACL in Western Australia at just 23. Throughout her career, she has held various political roles and ministry positions and is dedicated to promoting religious freedom and upholding Christian principles in governance and public discourse.
The driving mission of Michelle’s life has always been to influence public policy for Christ.
And with her passion for integrating Christian values into public policy, Michelle is perfectly prepared for her new role as CEO of ACL.
“The driving mission of my life has always been to influence public policy for Christ,” she said. “You can’t do this role without being extremely passionate about it, and also to have hope to believe that change is actually possible.”
And as we know, change is only possible if we all do our part.
Michelle believes fighting for Christian values has a positive impact on the whole country.
So, what can we each do, to help drive positive change in our country?
“The best thing you can do is be informed, and especially coming up to election time, you’ve got to make sure you vote based on your Christian values,” Michelle said.
“Please continue to pray for us as we advocate there on the front lines.
“We’re praying for Christians all around the nation that they’re able to stand firm during this time of increasing polarization and challenges to their faith as well.”
