TLDR: Co-founder of The Marriage Co. Jason Dawkins spoke with Elerrina about setting up boundaries for yourself and how to stick with them.

Pastor, Youth Worker and Co-founder of The Marriage Co., Jason Dawkins, talks with Elerrina about setting up boundaries and what you let influence you.

Jason begins by explaining how boundaries are very important and can bring freedom and safety.

“Who we listen to, what we look at, what we are following and what our beliefs are really impact our minds and they way we react,” Jason said.

He explains our senses have lot to do with the boundaries, what we see, hear and what we are doing can all influence us.

“The eyes effect us more than we realise when we see something there’s a chemical reaction in our brain that will affect us one hundred percent of the time,” he said.

Jason states an old saying “touch no unclean thing”, when we know not to ‘touch’ something it will adhere and stick. The dreams and nightmares that a person has is because of what is let in through the eye gate, with certain images or movies affecting someone while they sleep.

“We are always drawing in as humans,” he said.

“It’s more powerful than you think,” Elerrina agreed.

He explains how he and his family have set boundaries for their household, such as, not watching anything that is more than ‘M’ rated.

Jason leaves a tip on how to make the boundaries stay in place:

  • Sit together as a family and write down the boundaries and put them up on the wall for everyone to see.
