Paradise Point Bowls Club has been allowing juniors aged 7 – 17 to come and learn how to play bowls through a Juniors Training Program for almost 3 years.
Mick Bourne, a club member, started the program when a young boy who was playing with his footy on the bowling green was told not to.
“I went down to him and said ‘mate what do you think about having a game of bowls’ he said ‘oh I’d love that,” he said.
Mick explains that every Friday night is a highlight for him teaching the juniors the basics of bowls and including competitions and prizes.
“Just to see the smiles on their faces and see them having a good time playing bowls, because that’s what it’s all about,” Mick said.
The Juniors Training is on from 4.30pm until 6pm every Friday night. If you would like to find out more head to their website.
