Many of us collect cans and recycle them for 10c, however a local young man has started an organisation out of it.
Tom with the help from his Mum, Carolyn, started the 10c Tom Project nearly two years ago collecting cans from neighbours.
“I’m saving up to have my very own 10c Tom recycling depot to employ people with disabilities,” Tom said.
He now has 120 bins at different businesses, including restaurants, cafes and nursing homes.
“10c Tom collects around 15 thousand bottles and cans every week that come through our garage at home and we have most definitely outgrown our space,” Carolyn said.
Tom and Carolyn are currently trying to find a place for the depot and every cent that he collects goes towards the business he hopes to start in the future.
