Samaritan’s Purse is responding to the deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake that devastated Türkiye and Syria on February 6.
Hours later these countries were rocked by another 7.5 magnitude earthquake – killing more than 7100 people and injuring thousands more. Search and rescue efforts are still underway. Samaritan’s Purse has immediately mobilised its disaster response specialists and begun to position relief supplies for rapid deployment.
“Families in Türkiye need physical aid and support during this challenging time. Samaritan’s Purse cares for those in need and we will provide aid to those who are suffering in Jesus’ Name.” said Jodie Reid, Samaritan’s Purse Australia/New Zealand International Projects Manager.

“One of the things that we want to be able to do is provide them with shelter, tarps, tents. Places to be able to start living the next stage and finding hope in this crisis.”
This week, Samaritan’s Purse deployed approximately 75 Disaster Assistance Response Team members and an Emergency Field Hospital – equipped with 52 patient beds, a pharmacy and two operating rooms – to Türkiye along with critically needed supplies, such as hygiene items and tarp to aid families in the hardest-hit areas.
Jodie encouraged people to pray for those affected by the earthquakes, their response teams and to consider donating to Samaritan’s Purse response effects by visiting their website.
More updates to come.
